Background
This is a two part project (Exploring Gratitude & The Art of Gratitude), in this project I was tasked with creating a greeting/thank you card that shows graduate to an employer or business. The prupose of this assignment is to establish a professional background on ways I can say thank you to an employer in the design industry. Through out the project I will focus on layout, design thinking and principals!
Exploring Gratitude part 1: Research/Inspiration
First part into this project is finding inspiration, I viewed many samples in variety of platforms that I found that communicated Gratitude to a thank you card. I choose these cards as inspiration for their use of color, design, composition and aesthetics that I thought I could communicate as I went to designing my own thank you card!
Exploring Gratitude part 1: Ways to say Gratitude
Next Step into this project is to brainstorm ways to say Gratitude that can translate into my final card design.  As well with concepts and sentiments, when brainstorming concepts I listed ideas and design components that I envision for my card. For sentiments I brainstormed complete gratitude statements that could also land in my final thank you card.
Exploring Gratitude part 1: Sketching thumbnails
The next step into part one is thumbnail sketching. Through this portion I worked with different elements and designs that I would like to replicate as a final design. I explored with different fonts, layouts, and different design elements. In the end I decided to pick number 9 (first page on left)!
Exploring Gratitude part 1: Final Card design
Lastly combining all of the design elements from the pervious steps my final card design is made. I used Adobe illustrator for my final card design, I decided to go with a floral organic them with a mature cool tone color scheme. I decided to use these elements as I wanted to communicate a sweet but elegant tone!
The Art of Gratitude part 2: Setting up Indesign File
Now starting in the second part of Gratitude project is setting up my thank you card indesign layout. The outside of the card has my design and credits as the designer and ways to reach me, the inside of the card consist of my thank you sentiment and a blank area to have room for a personal writing.
The Art of Gratitude part 2: Creating Digital Mockups
The step is representing my thank you card in a digital mockup. Creating a digital mockup gives a realistic visualization of how a product/design would look like when finalized. I decided to go with a mock up that compliments my design and kept with the floral theme.
The Art of Gratitude part 2: Physical Mockup
The final step to this project is now printing and creating the physical mockup of my thank you card. When printing I used my indesign file which set the correct dimensions when printing. The only thing that did not come out correctly in the "Thank you" font as the printer was not reading the typography. Overall through this project I learned the importance of packaging and printing a project. I also learn how even the simplest of projects can have a lot of elements in the planning, making, and finalizing process!
